But the best news is that if you’re looking to have some of your favorite goodies this year and still want to keep it healthy, we’ve got the perfect recipes for you! We will discuss two recipes – one for overnight oats and one for cinnamon cake – both of which are guaranteed to be crowd pleasers. Find out how simple they are to make below!
It may seem like everyone has started to prepare their healthy dishes to eat during these festive days. But don’t worry if you aren’t feeling crafty or creative enough yet, or don’t know what recipes to make. In this post, I will give some delicious recipes with ingredients that are usually found in every kitchen so that you can stay on track with your diet without sacrificing your taste buds. Many of the most popular holiday dishes are made using simple ingredients. This is because basic recipes can be altered with different spices or even fruits to provide a delicious (and healthy!) twist on an old favorite.
This recipe for orange cranberry overnight oats uses only three ingredients, but tastes like you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen all day long! And it’s so simple to make, you can feel like a pro in no time.
Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats: To begin, combine one cup of old-fashioned rolled oats (gluten free, if necessary), two tablespoons chia seeds and half a cup unsweetened almond (or coconut, or soy) milk into a bowl or container with an airtight lid. Then add one teaspoon orange zest and juice from half an orange (you can add more if you want a stronger taste), and two tablespoons of unsweetened dried cranberries. Finally, stir everything together well to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
Place your bowl or container into the fridge for at least four hours before eating so that it can thicken up properly. Then just grab a spoon and enjoy!
This next recipe is slightly more indulgent but what you’ll really save on is time. Five minute cinnamon cake is just as its name suggests – it’s a quick and easy cake that can be whipped up in minutes! It’s perfect for when you need a sweet treat but don’t have a lot of time to spare.
The ingredients are simple: one cup all-purpose flour, one and a half teaspoons baking powder, one teaspoon cinnamon, half a teaspoon salt, one cup granulated sugar, one egg, two tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter and half a cup milk.
To make the cake, first mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl. In another bowl or container, whisk together the sugar, egg and oil or butter until well combined. Then slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry, mixing as you go until everything is just combined. Finally, stir in the milk until well combined.
Pour your batter into a greased or non-stick loaf pan and bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake.
You can add a glaze on top of the cake for an extra special touch, or simply dust it with powdered sugar, or enjoy plain. You can also try adding some spices like nutmeg and ginger to bring out different flavors that will delight your taste buds! Good spices are the answer to low calorie foods – you’ll forget they’re healthy at all! Happy holidays and enjoy these recipes while you celebrate this season.
